WINTER BREAK EXTENDED UNTIL JANUARY 17 - NEW COVID MEASURES IN QUÉBEC TO TAKE EFFECT

By Lela S.

Sorry for the misunderstanding..

I was supposed to create one article per section for this newspaper, but turns out I’ve got priorities. The announcement that was made a couple minutes ago is something that I’ve been waiting for since the start of my Christmas exams - well, the title says it all, doesn’t it? Here are all six of the new measures that were announced in Legault’s latest announcement.

1. Curfew from 10 PM to 5 AM

Starting from tomorrow, which is Friday, a curfew will be implemented. Note that’s NEW YEAR’S EVE, which effectively means that we can say goodbye to nightly New Year’s parties, unless they’re online.

2. No more indoor gatherings

Unless you live alone or need a caregiver, there’s no more gatherings in homes starting tomorrow. Again, to the New Year’s parties… byeeeeeeeeeeeee! That’s probably why they made this announcement at this specific time.

3. Restaurants: takeout and delivery only

Basically, you can’t eat at restaurants now, you can only order food online or get takeout. Also devastating for the partygoers, but at least we can still eat good food.

4. Essential businesses closed on Sundays

On the last day of the week (or the first day depending on your preference), businesses will be taking a break. You can do all your shopping on the weekdays and Saturday.

5. Capacity limits for stores

Limits will be implemented for stores on the days that they do open.

6. Winter break extended until January 17!!!!!

Holiday closures will be in effect until the 17th of January, excluding daycares. I’m SO POGGED! We’re not having online school, which I hate; our winter break is ACTUALLY EXTENDED!!!!! LETS GO PEOPLE, LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Lela’s POV: So the other day, when me and my dad were buying pastries at Première Moisson, there was this lady who ordered a monolithic dark chocolate cake for, as she said it, exactly 11:05 AM on the 24th of December. Sorry for you and your gigantic cake.

Update a few minutes into writing this article, more precisely between restrictions 4 and 5: apparently my dad told me that it’s just universities and cegeps. I am NOT HAPPY. Not happy at all. Why the muffin did Legault not add the Jan 17 limit to high schools. I do not want to study for my postponed exams. Why did Legault have to give me so much muffin false hope. unpogchamp. Unpogchamp. UNPOGCHAMP. UYGFKBRVNIUSFAINFVGSDVNIYFCSRIVDRBSUNZYGUTCFJMIAKUDTNFGHS

Update the next day: We apologize for the misunderstanding, but Legault wasn’t very clear about whether the extended break was affecting high schools as well as cegeps and universities. We fixed the mistake as soon as we could.
