COVID-19 REPORT - JULY 19, 2020

COVID-19 is a serious health threat, and the situation is evolving daily. The risk varies between and within communities, but given the number of cases in Canada, the risk to Canadians is considered high.

This does not mean that all Canadians will get the disease. It means that there is already a significant impact on our health care system. If we do not flatten the epidemic curve now, the increase of COVID-19 cases could impact health care resources available to Canadians.

The risk for COVID-19 may be increased for certain settings such as playdates. This includes playdates in your house. You can just as easily call someone on Messenger Kids or FaceTime! Another option is to simply go to the park and play, or even go biking, while of course wearing a mask and social distancing. Do you want to get COVID-19? I know I don’t! But some people are acting like getting COVID-19 is the best thing ever. That sounds silly, but it’s true! You might think “Ah, must be 2 year olds that are doing this” but unfortunately, this is not the case. I’ve seen adults in the park that were not social distancing and not wearing masks, either. So if you don’t want to get COVID-19, it’s best to simply stay 6 feet away (and wear a mask if you can).

UPDATE! Now masks are mandatory in public places. Finally, me and many others are at ease and we know that more and more people are wearing masks. Phew!
