Chapter 6: Biggest Flex Ever
On Saturday, after lunch, I went and sat at my gaming computer. I opened Discord, went to the group chat, and then, I pressed the Voice Call button.
Dring…
Dring…
Dring…
One by one, Nick, Zak, and finally Toby joined the call.
“Nick. Nick. I challenge you to a 1v1 on The Bridge. Pleeeeeeeease?” I asked.
“Okay, okay. Wait. I need to start up Minecraft.”
Once Nick had started up the game, I /dueled him.
3…
2…
1…
The game started. Placing blocks underneath me as I ran, to increase my speed, I was SPEED! Literally. A little while after I passed mid, we crossed paths. I didn’t even try to attack him, I just sprinted past.
Laughing, he said “The biggest mistake you’re making here is not attacking me.”
By then, I was close to his goal.
“NICK! VOID! VOID RIGHT NOW!” Zak screamed in all of our ears.
A second later, I jumped in. “@CallieCaca scored!” appeared on all of our computer screens.
“Was it a mistake, Nick? Was it?” I said, smug. 1-0.
“Uh, I let you, uh, have that one.” he stammered.
The second round, he actually tried to attack me, but then I block clutched and shot an arrow at him, which caused him to get knocked off. I then ate a golden apple, and sprinted towards his goal, and landed in it. 2-0.
Yes, CallieCaca has scored again. And she will keep scoring. I scored again. 3-0. I was super proud of myself… but I wasn’t surprised. Some other people were, though.
“NICK. I SWEAR, IF SHE BEATS YOU I WILL GET ON A CRAFTING TABLE AND-“ Zak screamed. His microphone cut off at that exact moment. Of course it did. You know what people do on crafting tables. Right? RIGHT?
“Callie, are you sure you aren’t hacking?” Toby asked, concerned.
My smile faltered. I actually wasn’t sure how to feel. On the one hand, I felt smug, almost flattered, by the fact that they thought I was good enough to be hacking. On the other hand, they thought I was BAD ENOUGH to be hacking?????? I was kind of confused.
“I. Don’t. Know. How. To. Hack. I’m literally on vanilla Minecraft.”
“Then how are you so fast? How do you do so much damage?” he asked.
“Um. I don’t know, okay?” I replied, exasperated. “I’m fast because I smash the control, W, and space buttons, and hold my fingers there. And I do lots of damage compared to you, because you’re probably just bad at the game.”
“Ohhhhhh Nick just got roasted!!!” Zak said.
But the next round, I wasn’t so lucky. He landed the preshot and I forgot to eat a golden apple, so he made it to my goal before I made it to his. 3-1.
The rest of the game went pretty much exactly the same. 3-2. 4-2. And finally. 5-2. Not quite 5-0 yet, but close. I took a screenshot, then I took a deep breath and…
“I WONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!! I ACTUALLY WON!!!! LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO” I screeched, super excited (but honestly not surprised again).
“Welllllll… Uh… This doesn’t mean you’re better than me. It’s just that, uh, today, I’m not playing well. Trust me, I’m a lot better than you.” he stammered.
“Excuses, excuses. I STILL WON YOU MUFFINHEAD!!!!!!!”
And the games with the rest of the guys went a bit like that one.
